I happened onto this Piano World Forums website by accident, but it
seems quite nice and has a wide variety of forums, such as Beginning
Adults, teachers, all kinds of things. Check it out:

Mark,

Piano World has sort of replaced this newsgroup. Several years ago many of
the people who are on Piano World used to chime in here, and there were
hundreds of messages a day here.

There are a couple of other forums on line, but Piano World is still the
most active.

Its also more of an effort to get news as quite a few ISP don't makes
them available or make their users aware of them. Where as web based
forums are more accessible to all and can cater more to local needs and
can be a good sours of income to the website

This PianoWorld Web based NewsGroup is HUGE! Never liked web based NG
but this one is a real exception. You must check it out. I was very
active in this NG but now I stick more on PianoWorld. Another thing
good about PW is the fact that your signature MUST reflect your
affiliation with either a manufacturer or if you are yourself a dealer,
you must include this information in your signature so every body know
how you are. There are a lot of professionnals active in PW so it is a
worthwhile ressource for good and "accurate" informations.

The PianoWorld NewsGroup threads seems to be surrounded by twaddle, ads and
all types of diversions. Is it possible to strip this rubbish and get the
threads on their own?

I followed your link and opened the section on recording piano. Interesting
topic so I decide to print it out ... I get more than 12 pages... much of
which has absolutely nothing to do with the topic. There are ads on the
RHS, profile of the correspondents on the LHS, between each comment there
are quotes from Einstein etc and all manner of mutterings. Only about 40% of
the space deals with the topic, recording piano. I was hoping that there
might be a printer-friendly route that strips off the twaddle. I note that
rec.music.makes.piano also has a lot of padding, but it seems to me that
there is a lot less.
