Hello,
I wonder if anybody can help. My girlfriend has a Technics PX 20 electric
piano and one of the speakers has recently blown. There is no manual on the
Panasonic web site archives and even the pianos with manuals they just say
2x140mm speakers.

Does anybody have any idea what speakers were used in these?

Thank you

I've had the following reply from panasonic......
--------------------
ISSUE RESOLUTION: Thank you for your recent enquiry.
EAS16PL403A speaker
Regrettably this item is now no longer available and neither is there a
replacement for it. Dependent on the age of the unit, parts required and the
level of demand for them, spares and accessories are usually available for a
period of between 5-10 years after a model's release onto the consumer
market. We apologise for the inconvenience caused.
Kind regards

Does anybody have any idea of what I could use for a replacement of this
speaker?

Thank you.

Without having any idea of the requirements (:-/), I'll still respond...

I'm not sure if digital piano speakers are tuned in any way to match
a piano's frequency response, but if not maybe you could simply find
a couple of speakers of the same impedance and size and replace the
old ones. (I'd be inclined to use a pair to keep things matched. Of
course if one speaker handles the bass keys and the other the treble,
they might *not* be matched.) Impedance is likely to be the most
important thing, and with luck you might actually find it labelled on
the speaker itself.

Otherwise, how about just using an external amp and speakers?
Can't find an exact spec on the web (though I did see an image
-- looks a handsome instrument!) but I assume it has a line-out jack?

Good luck.

Just as a followup, I was at a street festival today, where one of
the stages had a Technics piano that looked similar to yours. (Couldn't
tell the model number.) They simply had two M-Audio powered speakers
placed on top of the piano as a monitor for the pianist. (Of course it
also fed the stage PA.) Seems like they were satisfied with that scheme.
