Hello

I have a Yamaha CLP 230 with GH3 keyboard.I'm just a beginner, and it's
my first piano,so when I was buying it I didn't noticed that the keys
are very heavy.I was starting with practicing and become problems with
my fingers in 1 Month.I was thinking "it's normally for a rookie".2
Weeks ago a real pianist was playing on my Clavinova (plays more than
50 years the classical music) who noticed "the keyboard is very, very
heavy. The heaviest one I ever played".I was starting to check If is my
GH3 OK.I found on Kawai page (www.kawai.de) the keys should be from the
left side 63-60-55-50g (the weight you have to put on,that the key goes
down). On my CLP230 keyboard I can put easyly 100g on the bottom of the
keys (from pianists side) on the left side up to 1/4 the lenght of the
keyboad, and on EVERY KEY in the middle, the left side even,an there is
no movement.Is it normal??I think not?I checked Yamaha P70 and a baby
grand GT2 - both of them with 100g od key goes rapidly down.I also
checked a acoustic polish vertical piano named "Calisia" - it's the
same. All of the keyboards are a lot softer than mine.I think it's
DOUBLE difference.Please help!Can anyone check own GH3 keybord?I will
not send my piano if it's not necessary.

Thanks for any response

Best regards, Andrzej from Poland

I also have a Yamaha Clavinova 230, and am also a beginner. I find that
my keyboard is if anything a little lighter than my teacher's acoustic
piano. For what it is worth despite my limited experience and expertise
I suggest that you ask the dealer to check your keyboard out. I think
the problem is with your keyboard, not with you.

I think ALL of Yamahas weighted-actions
are a bit too stiff. I like a bit spongier
feel. Yamahas are usually on the
stiff side. There may be some
exceptions, though. I think
Roland's weighted keys
feel a bit more natural.
And, my old and
reliable and
superb sounding
Ensoniq ZR-76,
has a passably
spongy bounce
and give on the
keys, as well.
