Hello,

I am new to the group and hope, I do not break some of the rules here
asking without selfintroduction, but I have a quite urgent request:

A friend of mine (he's piano teacher) has a Yamaha GT-1 piano; the
keyboard of the piano does no longer work - it neither plays the
internal sound generation, nor does it generate MIDI-out. The sound
generation works fine via MIDI-In.

We think its something with the powersupply that feeds the optical
keyboard sensors, but we do not know where the powersupply is located
and - if we find it - what voltages it should generate. I am skilled
enough to do a repair job if I have reliable information and experienced
enough to know to let my hands of, if I don't have them ;-)

So we look for someone, who has some technical knowledge about this
Instrument. Any help is appreciated here.

Thanks, Florian

PS: the mail give in from field works fine

I would search on-line for Yamaha service centers, and see if one of
them will sell, or order a service manual for that model.

Thanks! That would be available without problems here in Germany
(Schaltungsdienst Lange), but it takes up to ten days (I used it several
times). My question was more for immediate help :-)

But thank you again!

Before you do anything else, just carefully
clean and replug all the connectors on all the
PC boards inside. Most of the problems with
all my keyboards were caused by corroded
connectors that gets oxidized or dirty with time.....

Good advice about cleaning connectors. The eraser is our friend.

Hi,

I wanted to say thanks to everybody for hints and tipps. I got in a
privat mail professional help from a yamaha technician, which fixed the
problem (seating of a connector had become loose).
