Can anyone recommend any free sites from which to download midi files that
are 'optimised'(?) for playing on the new yamaha CVP range? Ive downloaded a
few, but they sound awful, and dont take advantage of the CVP's sounds.
There seem to be thousands of sites out there, and many midi files are
rather basic when it comes to playing the backing tracks.

I cant find much in the way of commercial songs. I found several midi search
sites, which all turn up dozens of results for the songs im after but they
all sound poor when played back on my yamaha cvp 309

The 309 sounds fantastic, but (bear with me, dont know much about music or
midi files) the way they are arranged doesnt bring out the best in the
digital piano I have.

My problem is I dont know where to look for commercial songs which sound
good (and are freely downloadable) and am trying (and failing) to find a
site with thousands of midi files which all sound good.

What are styles? Sorry for asking what is probably obvious to everyone here,
sadly I dont have hours on end to surf the net learning about searching for
midi files.

If you are very new to the CVP, then you will find these sites very
useful:

http://www.svpworld.com/forum/default.asp

http://www.cvpug.com/index.php

http://www.pianoworld.com/ubb/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi

Style files are useful for the accompaniment feature. They allow you
to play a part with the accompaniment of a professional (sometimes)
back up section.
