I had the honor of hearing Horowitz in 1986 at Boston's Symphony Hall. An
incredible, almost spiritual experience. He, of course, was a Russian playing
German, Italian and Austrian pieces on his beloved American piano. The
resulting music was not something into which one could plant a national flag.
I wonder what pianos he learned on as a small boy.
